We who preach and write, do so in a manner different from which the Scriptures have been written. We write while we make progress. We learn something new every day. We speak as we still knock for understanding...If anyone criticizes me when I have said what is right, he does me an injustice. But I would be more angry with the one who praises me and takes what I have written for Gospel truth than I would be with the one who criticizes me unfairly. -Augustine

Haiti 2

If you didn’t read the previous blog on Haiti, Katrina, Tsunami, and Towers, it would help to read that first before this addition. What you have not heard in the news is that prior to the earthquake, Haiti had more missionaries and pastors per capita than any other place in the world. In fact it is known and has been heard often that when a plane lands in Haiti, half of it is filled with missionaries! It would appear that God was preparing for this event long in advance, just as he did during the days of Jonah–sending his message of repentance ahead of time. Oh America, America, time is running out. We may or may not experience another calamitous event here on our soil, though we cannot deny the truth, that to those whom much has been given, much will be required; but it is essential that we who know the truth begin to let others know that there is a God who does not desire for any to perish but all to come to repentance. Peter writes in his second letter: “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace… You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” 2nd Peter 3
